The BYD Sealion 7, a premium electric SUV inspired by the brand’s “Ocean Series,” made its debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Showcasing a blend of ruggedness and sophistication, the Sealion 7 boasts a comprehensive feature list and impressive performance figures. The SUV is slated for an Indian launch in mid-2025.
Design & Features
The Sealion 7 exudes a strong presence with its sculpted exterior. Key design elements include a low-slung hood, LED headlights with integrated DRLs, a blanked-off grille, and a prominent skid plate. The side profile features a coupe-like roofline, 20-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles, and chrome-accented wheel arches. The rear is characterized by a roof-mounted spoiler, a secondary boot lip spoiler, and connected LED taillights.

The interior offers a luxurious ambiance with a choice of Black or Tahiti Blue nappa leather upholstery. A 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display dominate the minimalist dashboard. Comfort features include ventilated and heated front seats, heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, and an air purifier. Convenience features include auto-folding heated ORVMs, a panoramic glass roof, electric sunshades, and a spacious center console. Advanced safety features include 9 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Performance
The Sealion 7 is available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations. Powered by an 82.5 kWh battery pack, the RWD variant delivers 313 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, offering a WLTP-certified range of 567 km. The AWD variant boasts 530 bhp and 690 Nm of torque, achieving a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds while maintaining a WLTP range of 542 km.

Launch & Pricing
The BYD Sealion 7 is expected to launch in India by mid-2025 with an anticipated starting price of approximately ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom). The Sealion 7 is poised to compete with other premium electric SUVs in the Indian market, such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6.
