Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross Get Blacked-Out “Z Urbano” Treatment in Japan

Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross

Toyota has introduced a new special edition for its Yaris and Yaris Cross models in Japan, dubbed the “Z Urbano,” which focuses on cosmetic enhancements rather than performance upgrades. This edition aims to elevate the perceived premium feel of these models by adding black accents and unique branding.

The Z Urbano treatment involves blacked-out elements across the exterior, including the Toyota emblem, side mirrors, door handles, rear spoiler, and roof. The Yaris Z Urbano features 16-inch wheels, while the Yaris Cross Z Urbano receives larger 18-inch gloss black wheels. Distinguishing the special edition further are “Urbano” logos placed on the front fenders.

Inside, the Z Urbano models feature custom puddle lights, scuff plates, floor mats, and a unique steering wheel. These editions are based on the existing high-specification Z trim, but are limited to Platinum White Pearl Mica or Massive Gray exterior colors, combined with a Black Mica roof and pillars.

Mechanically, the Z Urbano editions retain the standard powertrain options of the Yaris and Yaris Cross. Customers can choose between a 1.5-liter gasoline engine or a 1.5-liter hybrid system, both available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive and a CVT automatic transmission.

In terms of pricing, the Yaris Z Urbano is positioned as the top-tier Yaris trim, excluding the GR Yaris, due to the absence of the European Yaris GR Sport in the Japanese market. Conversely, the Yaris Cross Z Urbano is priced slightly below the Adventure trim.

The Yaris Urbano is priced from ¥2,347,400 to ¥2,887,500, while the Yaris Cross Urbano ranges from ¥2,623,500 to ¥3,228,500. Both models are now available for order in Japan as part of the 2025 model year refresh.
