Toyota has announced the GR Supra A90 Final Edition, the ultimate version of its iconic sports car, marking the end of the current generation’s production. Limited to just 300 units for Japan and Europe, this special edition boasts significant upgrades, including enhanced performance, advanced suspension, and striking carbon-fiber aerodynamics.
At the heart of the A90 Final Edition is an upgraded BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine, delivering 429 hp (320 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque. This represents a significant boost of 94 hp and 70 Nm over the standard model, thanks to a refined air intake, optimized engine controls, and a low-back-pressure catalyst. Paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, power is sent to the rear wheels. To ensure optimal performance, Toyota has added a baffle plate in the oil pan to maintain oil distribution during high-speed maneuvers, enhanced cooling, and an upgraded active rear differential. The exhaust note is enhanced by an Akrapovic titanium muffler.
Inspired by the GR Supra GT4 racecar, the A90 Final Edition’s chassis features KW adjustable dampers, strengthened stabilizers, and increased camber angles for improved handling. It rides on lightweight 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Braking power is supplied by 19-inch Brembo brakes, high-friction pads, and drilled floating discs.
Visually, the A90 Final Edition exudes a race-ready appearance. Highlights include a carbon-fiber swan-neck rear spoiler, a vented hood, and an aggressive front splitter with canards. The dual exhaust pipes showcase an afterburner-inspired design for added flair.
Inside, the cabin features Recaro Podium CF bucket seats with Alcantara upholstery. The driver’s seat, console, and seatbelts are finished in vibrant red, contrasting with the black accents and carbon fiber detailing throughout the rest of the interior, creating a bold and dynamic look.
Updated Standard GR Supra: Lightweight Evo and Track Edition
Alongside the A90 Final Edition, Toyota has introduced an updated GR Supra for its final production year, available in markets like Europe, Japan, and Australia. Known as the “Lightweight Evo” in Europe and “Track Edition” in Australia, these versions offer improved aerodynamics and a re-tuned chassis.
The suspension has been upgraded with reinforced bushings, mounts, and stabilizers, while revised settings for the electronically controlled dampers enhance rigidity and handling. A new active differential improves traction and reduces understeer, complemented by optimized electric power steering and larger Brembo brake discs.
The 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, producing 382 hp (285 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft), remains unchanged. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Notably, the smaller 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, previously available in Europe and Japan, is absent from this update, raising questions about its future availability.
Externally, the 2025 GR Supra sports a carbon-fiber ducktail spoiler and revised front fender vents to enhance aerodynamics. It rides on 19-inch matte black forged aluminum wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The interior is refined with Alcantara upholstery, red stitching, and matching seatbelts.
Availability and Future Plans
Toyota will begin taking orders for the GR Supra A90 Final Edition and Lightweight Evo in Europe in January 2025, with deliveries starting in spring. The updated GR Supra will roll out to other markets, including Japan and Australia, soon after. In the U.S., the GR Supra entered the 2025 model year in summer 2024, with the discontinuation of the 2.0-liter engine. However, the U.S. is not slated to receive the A90 Final Edition.
Despite the end of production for the current GR Supra, Toyota confirmed its continued presence in motorsport. Introduced in 2019, the GR Supra received updates in 2020 and 2022, and Toyota has already begun developing a next-generation model, though its launch date remains unannounced.
