Škoda Auto India has announced an exciting new way to unveil its latest offering, the all-new Kylaq SUV. Instead of a traditional launch event, the carmaker will premiere the Kylaq through a cinematic experience directed by renowned Indian filmmaker Rohit Shetty. This unique approach will debut on Jio Cinema on November 6, 2024, at 12:30 PM.
The film will showcase the Kylaq’s striking design and impressive performance capabilities across various terrains. This innovative approach reflects Škoda’s understanding of the cultural significance of films in India and its commitment to engaging with Indian audiences in a meaningful way.
The Kylaq, a name inspired by the Sanskrit term for crystal and Mount Kailash, embodies Škoda’s mission to democratize European technology in the Indian market. Powered by a reliable 1.0 TSI engine, the Kylaq offers 85kW of power and 178Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
Built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which has already proven its safety credentials with the Kushaq and Slavia, the Kylaq prioritizes safety with over 25 active and passive safety features as standard. These include six airbags, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, and more.
The Kylaq’s launch follows a nationwide campaign that invited the public to suggest names for the new sub-4-meter SUV. This collaborative approach highlights Škoda’s commitment to involving Indian consumers in the development of its products.
With the addition of the Kylaq to its SUV lineup, Škoda aims to further expand its presence in the Indian market. The company plans to increase its dealership network to 350 by 2025, reaching a wider audience and reinforcing its commitment to growth.
Škoda’s impressive growth in India, with over 100,000 cars sold in just two years, demonstrates the success of the MQB-A0-IN platform. The introduction of the Kylaq is expected to further solidify Škoda’s position in the Indian market and drive continued growth.
