Morgan Motor Company has announced that its highly anticipated successor to the Plus Six will be named the Supersport, with its official unveiling set for March 11th. The reveal will take place during a live online broadcast hosted by Richard Hammond.

The livestream event, originating from Morgan’s workshops in Worcestershire, will commence at 10:50 am GMT. Simultaneously, a physical launch event will be held at the Louwman Museum in the Netherlands, a location renowned for its extensive collection of classic automobiles.

While Morgan has maintained a veil of secrecy regarding specific details, it has been confirmed that the Supersport will be built upon a newly developed CXV bonded aluminum platform. This represents a significant advancement over the previous architecture, promising enhanced chassis rigidity and a reduction in overall vehicle weight.

The Supersport will be powered by a turbocharged six-cylinder engine supplied by BMW. While precise specifications remain undisclosed, the outgoing Plus Six model featured a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine, delivering 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Visual details remain scarce, with recent teasers only revealing the “Supersport” nameplate and a dual exhaust system. However, the rear design suggests a more modern and aerodynamic profile compared to the Plus Six.

Despite these updates, the Supersport will retain the iconic retro styling that defines Morgan vehicles. The company aims to strike a balance between classic design cues and a more contemporary aesthetic, with a focus on improved aerodynamic proportions.
