Mitsubishi’s Czech division has unveiled a rather peculiar special edition of the new Mitsubishi Colt: the Colt Performance. This rebadged Renault Clio has been given a rally-inspired makeover, complete with a power boost and a host of cosmetic upgrades.
While the Colt Performance may not be the Lancer Evolution reincarnation that many enthusiasts crave, it does offer a bit of fun and excitement to the compact car segment. The car features a striking matte black and red livery, red accents on the grille and side skirts, and a set of 18-inch OZ Racing wheels.
Under the hood, the Colt Performance is powered by a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that has been tuned to produce 127 hp and 222 Nm of torque. This is a significant increase over the standard Colt’s 99 hp and 160 Nm. However, it’s worth noting that this output is slightly lower than the 130 hp and 240 Nm offered by the 1.0 TCe 130 engine available in the Renault Clio.
The Colt Performance retains the standard suspension setup, which may limit its handling capabilities. Despite this, Mitsubishi claims that the lightweight nature of the car and the increased power output make for a noticeable performance improvement.
While the Colt Performance may not be a true performance car, it does offer a unique and sporty take on the compact hatchback segment. It remains to be seen if this limited-edition model will be available outside of the Czech Republic.
