Lexus Bids Farewell to RC and RC F Coupes with Limited Final Editions

Lexus RC F

Lexus is preparing to phase out its RC and RC F coupes, marking the occasion with exclusive “Final Edition” trims. The RC F swan song will be limited to just 200 units, available in Japan and the United States, featuring both mechanical and aesthetic enhancements. Production of both models will cease by November 2025, leaving the future of a potential successor shrouded in mystery.

The 2025 Lexus RC F Final Edition boasts a striking appearance with 19-inch BBS forged alloy wheels in a sophisticated Metal Star Gloss Black finish, complemented by red Brembo brake calipers. Beyond the black mirrors, the RC F showcases carbon fiber accents, including the splitter, side skirts, diffuser, active rear wing, and roof, echoing the previous year’s Carbon Package.

The Japanese-market RC Final Edition receives more subtle visual upgrades, limited to 19-inch Enkei alloy wheels with a unique “sputtering paint” finish, red brake calipers, and black mirror caps with smoked inserts. A diverse color palette is offered, with the RC featuring nine shades and the RC F providing seven (four for the US market), including the newly introduced Sonic Iridium.

Inside, both models embrace a “Black & Flare Red” trim with Final Edition badges and a distinctive instrument cluster welcome sequence. The leather and Ultrasuede upholstery, accented with red stitching and carbon fiber inserts, creates a sporty and sophisticated cabin ambiance.

Under the hood, the 2025 Lexus RC continues to offer a choice of 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V6 engines in the US, while Japanese buyers also have access to a 2.5-liter hybrid option.

The RC F Final Edition retains its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, producing 466 horsepower. However, Lexus has refined the engine for smoother revs and a more exhilarating soundtrack. Additionally, engineers have enhanced the limited-slip differential for improved acceleration responsiveness.

Availability and Pricing

Since its 2014 introduction, the Lexus RC has achieved respectable sales figures, finding homes in around 79,000 units across 62 countries. The performance-oriented RC F, a niche competitor to the BMW M4, has garnered a more modest following with 12,000 units sold in 57 countries. Despite these figures, Lexus expresses gratitude to loyal customers with the introduction of the Final Editions.

The RC and RC F Final Editions are now available for order in Japan. Pricing starts from ¥6,660,000 ($42,700) for the RC300 Final Edition and reaches ¥13,600,000 ($87,300) for the V8-powered RC F Final Edition.

What Lies Ahead?

While Lexus remains tight-lipped about a potential successor to the RC, reports from Japan suggest the development of a new 2+2 coupe. This enigmatic model could potentially replace both the RC and the more luxurious LC coupe. According to these rumors, the naturally aspirated V8 may be phased out in favor of a more efficient hybrid V6 powertrain.
