Hyzon Motors tests inaugural hydrogen waste truck with REMONDIS in Australia

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 23, 2023 /PRNewswire/ - Hyzon Motors Inc. (NASDAQ: HYZN), a leading hydrogen fuel cell technology developer and global supplier of zero-emission heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), has introduced its inaugural Heavy Rigid fuel cell electric waste collection truck for commercial trial with REMONDIS Australia, a major recycling and water company. This trial aims to transition to full vehicle purchase upon meeting performance targets.
Hyzon Motors Australia's Managing Director, John Edgley, expressed excitement, highlighting that this locally designed Australian truck marks a significant step towards a cleaner, more efficient future. He believes that Hyzon's zero-emission vehicles, in partnership with REMONDIS Australia, will help accelerate the transition to emissions-free transport, playing a vital role in Australia and New Zealand's fuel security strategy.
Björn Becker, CEO of REMONDIS Australia, emphasized the importance of this environmental initiative, showcasing that carbon-free transport is viable in industrial settings. He hopes other companies worldwide will follow their lead as economies of scale make the adoption of such technology more common.
Hyzon's Heavy Rigid truck, developed in Australia for global markets, can be adapted for various vehicle uses, such as garbage compactors and flatbed trucks. Leveraging Australia's expertise, Hyzon is preparing to launch its first U.S. FCEV waste collection vehicle for customer trials in the first half of 2024.

REMONDIS, with operations in over 30 countries, serves more than 24,000 Australian customers and will deploy this waste collection truck in the Wollongong and Shellharbour municipalities, operating from their New South Wales facility.
Hyzon's waste collection truck offers an impressive range of 200 kilometers (125 miles) and can perform 1500 bin lifts per working day. It was developed in partnership with Superior Pak, a leading Australian manufacturer of mobile waste collection equipment.
