Design and Features
The Citroen Basalt shares a strong resemblance to the C3 Aircross, featuring a V-shaped LED DRL pattern and split grille design. However, it adds LED projector headlights for a more premium look. The front bumper boasts a sporty silver finish with red accents, while the side profile showcases a coupe-style roofline and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, wraparound halogen tail lights and blacked-out bumpers complete the stylish exterior.
Inside, the Basalt shares several elements with the C3 Aircross, including the same dashboard design, dual digital displays (a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch driver’s display), and similarly designed AC vents. Additional features include automatic AC, a wireless phone charger, and adjustable under-thigh support for the rear seats.
Safety Features
The Basalt prioritizes safety with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a rear parking camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Powertrain Options
The Citroen Basalt is available with two petrol engine options:
- 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine: Produces 82 PS and 115 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
- 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine: Delivers 110 PS and up to 205 Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.
Rivals
The Citroen Basalt directly competes with the Tata Curvv SUV-coupe. It can also be considered a stylish alternative to compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, VW Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
Conclusion
The Citroen Basalt offers a unique blend of style, comfort, and performance. With its attractive pricing and impressive features, it aims to make a strong impression in the Indian market.
