Bugatti Reveals Alternative Design for Tourbillon

Bugatti Tourbillon

In a recent video, Bugatti has offered a glimpse into the design process behind its Tourbillon model. While the final design is now well-known, the automaker has revealed an alternative proposal that didn’t make the cut.

The video takes viewers back to February 2022, when design decisions were being made. While the Tourbillon’s predecessor is prominently featured, it’s the alternative design that captures attention. Although not fully shown, the glimpses reveal a significantly smaller horseshoe grille, less flamboyant intakes, angular headlights, and a recessed center section on the hood.

The alternative design’s angular and aggressive bodywork suggests a more futuristic approach. However, this might have been its downfall, as former design director Achim Anscheidt noted that the deciding factor was staying true to the modern-day Bugatti DNA.

The Tourbillon, while a departure from the Chiron, features a naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V16 engine. It’s complemented by a front e-Axle with two electric motors and a third electric motor at the rear. Powered by a 25 kWh battery pack, the Tourbillon delivers a combined output of 1,775 hp. The model can also travel over 37 miles on electric power alone.
