The Mahindra Thar Roxx has achieved a historic victory, clinching the 2025 Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) award in the closest competition in the award’s 20-year history. This thrilling victory came at the expense of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the runner-up, with a razor-thin margin of just two points. The Maruti Suzuki Swift secured the third position. Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Managing Director of JK Tyre, presented the prestigious award to Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra’s auto division, and Pratap Bose, the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Design Officer.
The esteemed ICOTY Jury, comprising respected automotive journalists from leading publications across India, meticulously evaluated each contender. The 2025 jury included 21 esteemed members, including Yogendra Pratap and Dipayan Dutta from Auto Today magazine. Each juror was allotted 25 points to distribute among five shortlisted vehicles, with no single vehicle receiving more than 10 points from any individual juror. This stringent evaluation process ensured transparency and fairness in the selection process. Deloitte, as the knowledge partner, played a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the award selection.
