Yamaha has unveiled the 2025 YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M, its flagship supersport motorcycles. These models feature several notable updates, both visually and mechanically, designed to elevate performance and enhance the riding experience.

Aggressive Design with Carbon Fiber Winglets

The YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M boast a striking and aggressive design, further accentuated by the addition of new carbon fiber winglets. Inspired by the Yamaha MotoGP factory team machine, the YZR-M1, these winglets not only enhance the aesthetics but also provide aerodynamic downforce, improving cornering stability and acceleration.

Refined Suspension and Braking

The 2025 YZF-R1 features an updated KYB front fork, offering improved road feel and chassis stability. The R1M, on the other hand, continues to utilize high-performance Ohlins suspension.

To address the long-standing desire for enhanced braking performance, Yamaha has equipped both models with new Brembo Stylema calipers and a Brembo master cylinder. This upgrade provides improved bite and feel, contributing to a more confident and controlled riding experience.

Powerful Engine and Advanced Electronics

Under the hood, both the YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M are powered by a 998cc, inline-four-cylinder engine with a crossplane crankshaft. This engine delivers an impressive 200 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox.

The motorcycles are loaded with advanced electronics, including IMU-assisted cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and ride modes, ensuring a safe and enjoyable riding experience.

India Launch and Compliance

While the YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M do not currently comply with Euro 5 emission standards, they are road-legal in the United States. In India, however, these models do not meet the BS6.2 emission norms. Nevertheless, given the popularity of the R1 in India, Yamaha may consider offering it as a track-only motorcycle to cater to enthusiasts seeking maximum performance.
