Triumph has unveiled the 2025 models of its Speed Twin 1200 lineup, introducing an updated standard model alongside a new high-performance variant, the Speed Twin 1200 RS. Both bikes feature enhanced suspension, improved power, refreshed aesthetics, and modern IMU-based electronics. The Speed Twin 1200 starts at $13,595, while the RS version is priced at $15,995. These models will be available in North American showrooms starting in December 2024.
The design of the updated Speed Twin maintains its retro charm, with subtle tweaks adding a contemporary edge. The fuel tank sports a new streamlined shape with deeper knee cutouts and a redesigned flip-up fuel cap. The one-piece bench seat has been reshaped, and the side panels blend more seamlessly with the brushed aluminum throttle body covers, resembling the look introduced with the Speed 400 model. At the front, the round headlight is now more compact, featuring a brushed aluminum bezel and cast aluminum finishers, while new cast wheels give the bike a modern, sportier appearance.
Under the hood, Triumph’s 1,200cc Parallel-Twin engine remains visually the same but delivers a slight power boost, now producing 103.5 hp at 7,740 rpm and 82.6 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. The engine retains its signature character thanks to a 270° firing order and a low-inertia crankshaft.
Triumph has upgraded the electronics package, now offering lean-sensitive traction control and cornering ABS. The standard Speed Twin 1200 comes with two riding modes, Road and Rain, while the RS variant adds a Sport mode, enhancing throttle response and refining traction control settings for a more dynamic experience.
The instrumentation has also been revamped, replacing the previous dual-gauge setup with a single combination LCD and TFT display. This new system includes phone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and a USB-C charging port for added convenience.
Now, let’s explore the key differences between the standard Speed Twin 1200 and the premium RS model.
2025 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS
The Speed Twin 1200 RS is geared towards a sportier riding experience, with ergonomics designed for enhanced performance. The handlebars are positioned 0.6 inches lower and 0.4 inches further forward, while the footpegs sit 0.3 inches higher and 1.6 inches further back compared to the standard model. The seat is also slightly taller, standing at 31.9 inches.
The RS variant comes equipped with a bidirectional quickshifter, a first for any Bonneville-based model, and adds a Sport mode for sharper throttle response. In terms of suspension, the RS features fully adjustable 43mm Marzocchi inverted forks with 4.7 inches of travel upfront, while the rear benefits from Öhlins dual fully-adjustable external reservoir shocks offering 4.8 inches of travel.
Braking is handled by dual Brembo Stylema M4.30 radial-mount calipers paired with 320mm discs at the front. At the rear, there’s a Nissin two-piston floating caliper with a 220mm disc. Both wheels are shod in Metzeler Racetec RR K3 tires for added grip and performance.
The 2025 Speed Twin 1200 RS is available in two striking color options: Baja Orange and Sapphire Black, both featuring RS graphics, anodized suspension components, and brushed aluminum fenders.
2025 Triumph Speed Twin 1200
While the standard Speed Twin 1200 doesn’t offer the same aggressive ergonomics as the RS, it does come with improvements over the previous model. The handlebars are 0.7 inches higher and 0.5 inches further forward, providing a more comfortable riding position. The seat height is slightly lower than the RS, measuring 31.7 inches.
The 43mm Marzocchi inverted forks on the standard model aren’t adjustable but have been updated with new settings, offering the same 4.7 inches of wheel travel. At the rear, Marzocchi supplies preload-adjustable twin shocks with external reservoirs, providing 4.6 inches of travel.
Braking components are of a slightly lower specification compared to the RS, with Triumph-branded four-piston radial calipers handling the front braking duties. The standard Speed Twin rolls on Metzeler Sportec M9RR tires, a more street-focused option than the RS’s Racetec rubber.
The 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 will be available in three color options: Crystal White, Carnival Red, and Aluminum Silver. Each variant brings its own unique charm, while the performance and design updates ensure that the Speed Twin 1200 remains a top choice for riders seeking a blend of classic style and modern performance.
