Suzuki has introduced a new adventure-oriented motorcycle in Columbia, the V-Strom 160. This bike, manufactured in Brazil, is essentially a rebadged version of the DL160 produced by Suzuki’s Chinese partner, Haojue.
While the V-Strom 160’s design and components lean towards road-oriented performance, it does feature dual-purpose tires and a taller handlebar, suggesting some off-road capability. However, the suspension travel and ground clearance are more suited to urban and highway riding. The comfortable seat and ergonomic design further emphasize its touring potential.
Powering the V-Strom 160 is a 160cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that delivers 14.75 horsepower and 14 Nm of torque. This engine is different from the one used in the Indian-market Gixxer, featuring a distinct design for the crankcase and cylinder head.
Other key features of the V-Strom 160 include a 795mm seat height, a 13-liter fuel tank, a digital instrument cluster, and a lightweight 148kg kerb weight.
Due to the limited market demand for 150-160cc adventure motorcycles in India, and the declining sales of the Gixxer and Gixxer SF, it is unlikely that the Suzuki V-Strom 160 will be launched in the Indian market.
