Royal Enfield has officially launched the much-anticipated Bear 650 in India, with prices starting at Rs 3.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). This new scrambler motorcycle is built on the same platform as the Interceptor 650, sharing its engine and chassis. However, the Bear 650 distinguishes itself with its unique design, off-road-oriented suspension setup, and rugged appeal.
Design and Features:
The Bear 650 embraces a classic scrambler aesthetic with its high-set handlebars, wire-spoke wheels, and knobby tires. The motorcycle features a minimalist design, with a round headlight, a sculpted fuel tank, and a sleek tail section. It’s available in five attractive color options: Wild Honey, Petrol Green, Golden Shadow, Boardwalk White, and Two Four Nine.
Engine and Performance:
Powering the Bear 650 is the familiar 648cc, air-oil cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 47 bhp and 56.5 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, delivering smooth power delivery and a thrilling riding experience.
Suspension and Brakes:
To enhance off-road capabilities, the Bear 650 comes equipped with long-travel suspension. The front suspension features a 43 mm Showa inverted fork with 130 mm of travel, while the rear suspension utilizes twin shock absorbers with 115 mm of travel. The motorcycle also boasts a generous ground clearance of 184 mm and a seat height of 830 mm.
Braking duties are handled by a 320 mm disc brake at the front and a 270 mm disc brake at the rear, with dual-channel ABS for added safety. The bike rides on MRF Nylorex tires, specifically designed for off-road conditions.
Technology and Convenience:
The Bear 650 offers modern features like full LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster with a Tripper navigation system, and a USB Type-C charging port. The motorcycle also benefits from a comfortable riding position, thanks to the wide handlebars and well-positioned footpegs.
With its rugged design, capable engine, and off-road-oriented features, the Royal Enfield Bear 650 is set to appeal to adventure enthusiasts and those seeking a unique riding experience.
