BMW has launched the new S 1000 XR, which will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). This replaces the 2020 model and features improvements in design, performance, and features compared to the S 1000 RR.
BMW S 1000 XR: Price and Launch Details
The S 1000 XR shares its engine with the legendary S 1000 RR. However, BMW has revised the inline-4 cylinder engine, bumping power up to 170 HP at 11,000 rpm and 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm (an increase of 5 HP over the previous model). BMW claims a 0-100 km/h time of 3.25 seconds and a top speed of 253 km/h.
In terms of design, the black peak spoiler is now body-colored. The rear features new side panels and air intakes inspired by motorsports. The seat has been redesigned for improved comfort in both track riding and touring. The standard seat height is 850 mm, with a lower seat option available.
BMW S 1000 XR: Packages and Features
The new S 1000 XR offers additional equipment depending on the chosen package: Touring Package, Dynamic Package, and M Package. Notably, the Touring and Dynamic Packages come standard.
- Touring Package: luggage rack, center stand, navigation device slot, hand guards, tire pressure monitoring system, and heated grips.
- Dynamic Package: Dynamic ESA Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, and cruise control.
The M Package includes:
- M sport seat
- M Endurance chain
- M GPS twist trigger
- Sports silencer
- Tinted windshield
- Black fuel cap
- M lightweight battery
- Forged wheels (optional M carbon wheels)
The M Package is the only one available in M Sport white and carries a premium of Rs 2.50 lakh over the standard price.
Competition
The new S 1000 XR will compete with the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak and Ducati Multistrada V4 RS, which are not yet launched in India.
