BMW Motorrad has teased the new R 1300 GS Adventure on its social media platforms and has announced that it will be unveiling the bike on July 5. The R 1300 GS Adventure will have a much larger tank than the R 1300 GS, perhaps around 30 litres.
This allows the bike to cover much more distance between refuelling stops, meaning you can spend more time on the road, rack up the miles and maintain a good average speed. And anyone who has ridden long distances will agree that average speed is important when you want to cover greater distances in a short time.
The larger tank on the R 1300 GS Adventure will add to the bike’s visual mass. The rest of the elements, such as the LED headlight, beak and side and rear fairings, should be the same as on the regular ‘GS’. We can expect BMW to offer auxiliary lights, crash protection and a range of new colours to differentiate the ‘Adventure’ from the standard motorcycle.
The motorcycle is powered by a 1,300 cc twin-cylinder engine that produces 145 bhp at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The electronic equipment should also be comprehensive and could include radar-based cruise control.
The suspension, wheels, tyres and brakes of the BMW Telelever and Paralever Evo will also likely be the same as those of the R 1300 GS.
While the official global launch will take place on July 5, the motorcycle could be launched in India around August or September.
