Triumph Motorcycles, renowned for their iconic supersport models, has made a significant announcement: the return of the Daytona 660 to the Indian market. This modern interpretation of the legendary Daytona 675 promises to deliver thrilling performance and cutting-edge technology.
A New Design Language
While the Daytona 660 retains the unmistakable DNA of its predecessor, it embraces a more contemporary design aesthetic. The sharp lines and aggressive styling of the original Daytona have been tempered in favor of a more approachable and refined look. The motorcycle’s distinctive nose and chunky tail section still evoke the spirit of a true supersport.
Advanced Features
The Daytona 660 comes equipped with a range of modern features. The circular instrument cluster, previously seen on the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660, provides essential information at a glance. Three riding modes—Rain, Road, and Sport—allow riders to tailor the motorcycle’s performance to their preferences and the prevailing conditions. Dual-channel ABS is a standard feature, ensuring safety and control.
Powerful Performance
Underneath the sleek exterior lies a potent 660cc triple-cylinder engine. This powerplant delivers a peak power output of 95 horsepower and a maximum torque of 69 Nm. Notably, 80% of the torque is available at a low 3,000 rpm, ensuring a responsive and exhilarating ride.
Premium Suspension and Brakes
The Daytona 660 boasts a premium suspension setup, featuring Showa-sourced components. Up front, 41 mm separate function, big-piston forks provide precise handling and comfort. At the rear, a monoshock with preload adjustment ensures optimal performance and stability. The stopping power is provided by twin 321 mm rotors at the front and a 220 mm rotor at the rear, offering confident braking in all conditions.
Expected Price and Competition
The Triumph Daytona 660 is expected to be priced around ₹9.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its launch, it will compete against rivals such as the Kawasaki Ninja 650. With its combination of performance, style, and advanced features, the Daytona 660 is poised to make a strong impact in the Indian supersport motorcycle market.
