Bengaluru Traffic Police Crack Down on E-commerce Delivery Personnel

Bengaluru Traffic Police

Bengaluru’s traffic police conducted a special drive on Monday, targeting e-commerce delivery personnel for various traffic violations. The strict enforcement resulted in the registration of nearly 6,000 cases and the collection of over Rs 30.57 lakh in fines.

The most common violations included:

  • Pillion riders without helmets: 2,304 cases
  • Parking in no-parking zones: 1,260 cases
  • Riding in no-entry zones: 671 cases
  • Riding without helmets: 523 cases
  • Jumping traffic signals: 281 cases

While e-bikes below 30cc, often used for short delivery trips, were also subject to penalties for violations like footpath riding, parking, and entering no-entry zones, they were exempted from helmet and document-related regulations as they fall outside the purview of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

This crackdown highlights the growing concern over traffic violations by delivery personnel and emphasizes the need for stricter enforcement to ensure road safety.
